Cinnamon Apple Galette

My favorite recipe to bake for fall is my Cinnamon Apple Galette. It’s as delicious as it is beautiful. I prefer it as a morning treat with my coffee.

Ingredients:

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter

3 medium apples

1 teaspoons cinnamon

1 egg

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. In a food processor, mix together flour, sugar, salt, butter until the ingredients form a ball of dough.

  3. Remove dough and roll into a ball on a floured surface.

  4. Cover dough in plastic wrap and place in refridgerator for 30 minutes.

  5. Using a rolling pin, roll dough into a large circle.

  6. Place dough onto a large baking tray with parchment paper.

  7. Using a dinner plate, press down on the dough to create a circular indentation (use as a guide for placing apples).

  8. Peel apples and cut in half. Cut each half into thin slices.

  9. Fan sliced apples halves out and arrange around the circular indentation on dough.

  10. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and sprinkle over apples.

  11. Place 4-5 pieces of butter cut into thin squares between apple slices.

  12. Fold dough edges over the apples.

  13. Mix egg with a splash of water and brush over crust.

  14. Bake for 30-40 minutes, until crust is golden brown.
