How to Wear Flared Jeans This Spring
In my previous post, I talked all about expanding my denim collection this spring and summer. While I started with fringed bootcut jeans, today I am exploring a silhouette that has recently caught my attention: crop hi-lo flare jeans.
Featuring a dramatic belled silhouette from the knee down, crop hi-lo flare jeans put a fresh spin on the classic '70s flared pant. While I was not sure if I could pull off the extra fabric used to create the exaggerated crop hi-lo flare jeans, I was pleasantly surprised by how effortless I found the fit to be. The key to this winning pair is that the high-waistline helps to lengthen the cropped cut. Altogether, I love the contemporary take on a typical 70's bell bottom silhouette. I opted to pair my crop hi-lo flare jeans with a coordinating ombré lace top by Diane Von Furstenburg to create a somewhat monochrome outfit for an adventurously chic day look. The top's sleeveless silhouette featuring a polo-style neckline and contrasting collar helps to keep the look feeling structured, while the tonal lace adds a feminine touch.
Denim is sure to be a favorite textile of mine come spring and summer. As a result, I have a few more styles on my denim check-list to explore. In the meantime, I have linked to more outfits featuring denim here. Or, if you are fan of my lace top, I have linked to some of my favorite lace outfits here.
