Hello from Orcas Island! I'm excited to share that I've escaped city life for a few days to explore the San Juan Islands, which are located in the northwestern corner of Washington state. It's already been such a memorable trip, just yesterday I was standing on a cliff above the ocean watching the sunset while out of the blue (literally) an Orca Whale swam by! I'd like to think it was welcoming us to the San Juans!

Being in a new location is always a fun opportunity to get out of your style comfort zone. Sometimes that means pairing two opposing dress codes, like feminine + edgy, tomboy + girly, or evening + day. For the San Juans, I've tried to find the happy medium between classic + trendy. So, I've ditched my heels and go-to blazers for leather sandals and a fabulous linen tunic.

The button-front shirt is cut from cool, comfortable linen in an updated tunic silhouette. The long length is perfect for layering over denim cutoffs. I've purposefully left a few buttons unbuttoned in order to allow the airy top to move with the sea breeze as I explore the island. For a look that's equal parts comfort and fabulous, I've opted to pair the tunic with my favorite cutoff shorts, crystal statement necklace, and iconic gladiator-style sandals. The mix of trendy pieces (statement necklace) with more sophisticated pieces (the tunic) made exploring the San Juan Islands in style effortless.

While the end of summer is always bittersweet, I am excited to spend a few more days by the sea before embracing fall with open arms!
