Summer Culottes
Sharing this look from Monaco! Monaco is an independent state on France’s Mediterranean coastline and about a 30 minute drive (depending on traffic) from where I stayed in Nice, France. For only being a mere 499 acres, Monaco knows how to pack in the luxury! It is known for its glitzy casinos, yacht-lined harbor and prestigious Grand Prix motor race, which actually just took place. Monte Carlo is the major district of Monaco and is famous for it's elegant Casino de Monte-Carlo, luxe hotels, boutiques, and dining.
To visit this fantasy of a city, I opted to wear matching separates in the form of a sleeveless trapeze top and culottes. The soft paneled fabric adds a sophisticated take on the culotte trend. To play-up my French Riviera location, I added a boater's hat and matching black ankle-strap sandals for good measure! Gauchos, culottes, and wide-leg trousers are officially the new must-have pants for spring and summer. The bold silhouette is especially fun to me because they hang like a full a-line skirt, but are actually pants. They can be dressed up or down depending on how you style them. Refinery 29 has it right by recommending, "go simple with a solid top, or stick with matching separates... Then, add strappy heels and call it a day. A whole outfit in three steps (and, like, three seconds)? Sounds good to us." I've selected a sandal with a thicker heel in order to balance out the fullness of the pants. All in all, I found it to be the perfect look for a day in Monaco!
