Chalet Chic in Whistler, Canada
Hello from Whistler, Canada! I've arrived in one of my favorite cities for Thanksgiving weekend. Arriving in Whistler, although only 4 hours from Seattle, is like arriving in a winter wonderland! Although it is still early in the ski season, there is already snow all around. I find that the snowy setting makes winter and the holiday season that more magical. For this reason and more, Whistler is truly one of my favorite cities to travel to. Other reasons probably include the concept of après-ski drinks and the fact that I get to layer-on my favorite cold-weather pieces! So, today I'm sharing a fashionable winter outfit idea for ski resort Whistler, Canada.
Dressing the part, today I opted for layers of grey. The clean-cut, collared cape accented with silver hardware is a new-season staple of mine. Capes are an effortless option for taking on the coming winter months in style. I've upped my cape's cosy factor with chunky knits. I'm loving this specific cable knit sweater for its oversized fit and extra-comfortable feel. It is exceptionally soft and definitely a must-have choice for the coming months (see another snap of how I've worn the sweater here on instagram). To emphasize the cable knit, I've accessorized with my coordinating knit beanie that features a cute pom-pom on top.
With all these warm layers, I dared to pair the whole look with a skirt and over-the-knee-boots! I'd have to say, I wasn't that cold! However, I would definitely recommend layering long socks under the boots for added warmth. While the cape and sweater could have just as easily paired with jeans, I like the luxurious finish the skirt and boots add to my classically stylish staples.
I found this look to be perfect for the après-ski scene. After a day of hitting the slopes (or sleeping in), a quick change into this look had me feeling the part.
